Prospective patients are using social media tools to seek out cosmetic and plastic surgeons, and specialists, before scheduling consultations. A big factor in this increase in interest, patient lead generation and conversion is the ease of sharing images and photos on platforms like Facebook.
Sharing pictures on social media sites like Facebook is convincing more and more people to seek plastic surgeon consultations, according to American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). Their recent survey shows a 31% increase in facial procedure requests in 2012 due to social media, with patients wanting to alter or accentuate their features. With cosmetic treatments making up 73% of total procedures last year. AAFPRS member Minas Constantinides, a New York City plastic surgeon, sees facial procedures increasing in popularity with new fillers and toxins gaining traction, as “we have gained the trust of our patients.”
