Do Birthdays Influence Our Decisions About Plastic Surgery?

Posted on

As we age, our faces and figures change with time. Each birthday we celebrate brings with it expectations of how we think we should look. Both women and men experience insecurities with each decade, regarding their looks. It is human nature to compare ourselves to others. Additionally, when we see others making cosmetic enhancements within our same age range, this can encourage us to do similar procedures. If you review this inforgraphic from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, women in the same age groups tend to invest in like procedures.

Women who are 35-50 seem to be more concerned with aging facial features. They are the biggest consumers of neurotoxin injections like Botox and Dysport and other dermal fillers, while younger women are more interested in laser hair removal, breast implants and augmentation and even rhinoplasty surgery. Lifts are in higher demand for those 50 and older, who seek out facelift, eyelift and brow lift procedures to look younger.

How do you compare to others in your age group? Have you ever considered a procedure due to a birthday?
