Smart Lipo MPX
What is SmartLipo MPX?
SmartLipo MPX is the second-generation version of the FDA-approved SmartLipo workstation used by surgeons to remove unwanted fat and contour the human body via liposuction. All forms of SmartLipo are popular due to the improved results and reduced recovery time from the procedure. The advanced laser technology minimizes pain, swelling and bruising, and it reveals smooth, aesthetically-pleasing body contours. The small, thin cannulas used in SmartLipo MPX lend to less physical trauma, and the coagulation effect on blood vessels minimizes bleeding.
SmartLipo MPX, which refers to “MultiPlex” technology, uses a more advanced form of laser-aided liposuction with dual laser technology. This refers to the two laser wavelengths to customize the fat removal and skin tightening processes by doctors. The laser output helps reduce the treatment time because of the higher energy power, and the ThermaGuide and SmartSense delivery system channel the energy wavelengths for added protection. Thermal sensing and motion control technologies avail safer and more reliable body contouring results. The blended laser uses photomechanical and thermal effects for efficient lipolysis and coagulation of tissue.
Procedure
For procedures using SmartLipo MPX, patients only need to undergo local anesthesia, reducing risks and complications. A small metal cannula tube (1-2 mm thick, similar in size to a pen tip) is placed underneath the patient’s skin. The laser energy is focused through the cannula tube via a fiber and moved back and forth onto the fat cells to be eradicated, making them rupture and become liquefied. The altered fat is then suctioned from the body by a hollow cannula. The small blood vessels are immediately coagulated, improving the effect of hemostasis and tightening skin tissue. The laser energy on the dermis acts to shrink the skin.
Meanwhile, the laser energy in the two wavelengths is used to shrink collagen and incite new collagen production through tissue coagulation, also known as injury. The laser helps break septa bands responsible for dimpling due to fat deposits. This cellular damage tightens the tissue. When the MultiPlex mode is used, the 1,064nm wavelength laser is fired first, with the energy evenly distributed into the fat tissue. The 1,320nm wavelength laser is fired next, which converts hemoglobin to methemoglobin. This laser is absorbed strongly by water used in the liposuction process for effective lipolysis.
Recovery
Intervention with SmartLipo MPX usually takes between 45-60 minutes per treated area - depending upon the number of areas and the amount of fat for removal. A small amount of patients may need a painkiller to manage discomfort. Minimal bleeding, bruising and recovery time means that recipients of SmartLipo treatment can resume mild activities almost immediately, they can go back to work in a matter of days, and they can resume normal activities within two weeks. Some patients may have swelling or bruising for up to two weeks.
Because SmartLipo MPX uses tiny punctures, this allows for open drainage of anesthetic solution at a faster rate. No stitches are necessary for closure and scarring is minimal at first, until the scars fade. Incisions (about 3 millimeters thick when first administered) should heal within 2-4 weeks with no scabs, and the pimple-like marks will disappear between 3-12 months.
Patients must wear a compression garment during downtime, and bandages are removed within 2 weeks of the procedure. You should see results within 2-3 weeks, and final tightening of the contours should be visible within 3 months. (Some may not see results for up to a year.)
Candidates
The most effective use of SmartLipo MPX is for smaller fat deposits and heating of broad tissue for reduced bleeding, areas of skin laxity, and bruising. Candidates for general Liposuction include those that are in good health, exercise regularly, are within 25 lbs. of their ideal weight, and have areas of fat that cannot be removed through diet and exercise. It is ideal for removing fat from arms, the abdomen, knees, breasts, neck, and jawline. These problem spots include buildup of fat deposits in creating love handles, excessive neck fat, belly fat, inner thigh fat, upper arm fat, and saddlebags.
