About Michael J. Tomcik, M.D

Dr. Michael Tomcik is a board-certified dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He combines over 38 years of medical practice and more than three decades of experience in laser technology to provide his patients with outstanding cosmetic dermatologic care. His unique talents are obvious in his ability to listen to each individual's needs and desires. This careful evaluation combined with his knowledge of anatomy, physiology, design and aesthetics gives each patient a distinctive blend of science and artistry. Dr. Tomcik sees his cosmetic dermatology practice as an artist selecting elements from a palette to create "just the right touch" to enhance each patient's appearance and well-being.

Our practice philosophy incorporates the best and latest dermatology practice with emphasis skin care treatments and advanced new procedures for body contouring, such as Smartlipo™. In addition, Dr. Tomcik has been performing tumescent liposuction since 1997, and he is very skilled in this area of cosmetic surgery. Our professional staff tailors treatments to each patient’s unique set of needs, based on complexion, ethnicity, body type and other factors. We are committed to providing the most advanced treatments and minimally invasive procedures.

We have expertise in medical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, and surgical dermatology including Lasers and Vaser® Tumescent Liposuction for and Smartlipo™ body sculpting. Contour and shape nearly any area of the body to achieve more ideal physical features. Education is an important part of Dr. Tomcik's service and philosophy. Since 1977, he has been a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at UCSF. He frequently attends and presents professional seminars to maintain his up-to-date cosmetic and medical technology and skills. Dr. Tomcik also offers numerous voluntary services and seminars to the community here at home and abroad.

Dr. Tomcik emphasizes that any technology is only as good as the physician who uses it. "Trust your skin to a skin care professional. A physician who is board certified in Dermatology has more training and experience in the field than doctors in other specialties."

Dr. Tomcik creates a truly cordial environment for patients. His staff is knowledgeable and compassionate and the unique Northern California style facility reflects his artistic flair and gracious personality. Dr. Tomcik grew up in the midwest and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1968 with a major in microbiology. He graduated from The Ohio State University School of Medicine in 1972 with his M.D. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at University of Miami. Then he followed with a three year fellowship in Dermatology at Columbia University, New York City. He was a resident at St Luke's Medical Center serving as chief resident in 1976. He started his own private practice in California in 1977.

Dr. Tomcik received his tumescent liposuction training and certification from Dr. Jeffrey Klein, the inventor of tumescent technique. He has also been certified by Dr. Patrick Lillis and Dr. Helena Inga, early pioneers in the tumescent liposuction procedure. Dr. Tomcik is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member in good standing of many professional organizations. These include the prestigious American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology & Aesthetic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons and many more.

Dr. Tomcik and his wife Connie, an RN, have two grown children, Kendra and Devin.
